Once more hot weather greeted golfers who took part in a par round at the Penola Golf Course on the weekend.
With all golfers heading out early to tee off, it was Mark Edwards prospecting his way to a well compiled five up to win the B Grade and have the score of the day. If he continues on his winning way he may get the branch established quicker than he thought. Edwards started the day a little rusty, wiping out the first hole before finding his groove to finish the front nine three up. The back nine was just as productive with a run of four up in the middle before wiping the last hole. In second place was Allen Meyer who completed the day to be square. It was then clear daylight to the father son team of the Mathys with Brad on four down and Ant on six down. The A Grade saw Lindsay Storer shake off the demons of last weeks disastrous round to finish two up. He played consistently on the front nine winning a hole then losing a hole to come in square at the turn while his back nine was a solid improvement, finishing two up with 38 off the stick. Runner-up was Grant Stephenson on one up. Nathan Williams won on a countback over Leo Price, both with square. “Snitzel” is loving these early tee off times. Unfortunately due to the captain not getting out to the course the nearest the pin targets were not present. All players are reminded that next week will be the IGA Monthly Medal with hopes of kinder weather so players will stay for the full presentation ceremony afterwards. Full results here.
