president heads field in stableford competition

With the weather forecast predicting pleasant conditions, a field of 27 golfers took to the Penola Golf Club layout on Saturday.

However, in true South East fashion the weather turned a little damp but this did not deter the players who were all determined to put in a good score in the last round of the club's stableford trophy.

The winner in the A grade was the president, Shane Anderson, who came in with 38 points.
Anderson had eight pars, which yielded him 23 points and only one wipe out being the only blemish saw him head off the rest of the field.

Lindsay Storer was runner-up with 37 who had ti survive a five-way countback to claim the honours.
His last nine got him over the line with a one-over par for 21 points.

Third was Greg Hutchesson who cannot seem to keep it all together to get the win. He had a good back nine shooting two-over for 21 points also.

The next three players also had 37 with Tony Gleeson edging out Leo Price and Peter Docking.
This was thanks to his back nine for a 41 off the stick.

The B grade was won by Dean Moore with 38 points. Moore is slowly coming back to his old form and the handicapper will be watching him closely over the next few months. He had two bad holes on the par 5's which definitely cost him the outright win.

The runner-up was Shane McPherson who had 36 points. Unlike his playing partners he could not quite get to 37.

In third was Allen Meyer with 33 points followed by Dave Boyd with 32.

The nearest to the pins were won by Lindsay Storer on the seventh and Steven Skeer. Again there was no player that could hit the 16th green.

The much sort after chocolate was won by Curt Evans who was a gracious winner.

This week will be the Rabobank Monthly Medal and hopefully a good turnout will again see some great scores.
