With extreme heat predicted club members decided to postpone the IGA Monthly Medal at Penola Golf Course and hold the fourth round of the Summer Cup on Saturday.
With only 12 brave and committed golfers hitting the course, early scores were all very scratchy. The standout golfer who seems to excel with an early tee off was Nathan Williams, who returned with a card of 77 for a nett 68 and was the clear winner for the day. Williams was consistent all day with nine pars and two birdies and nothing worse than a bogey. In second place on countback was Leo Price, winning on a countback from Grant Stephenson. They both had a nett 73 while Chris Holden rounded out the fourth spot with nett 74. The B Grade was a little indifferent with a blanket covering all the scores. Ant Mathys was declared the winner from Allen Meyer followed by Dean Moore and David Boyd. The nearest the pins went to Meyer on both the seventh and ninth with Price taking the best third on the 14th. Lindsay Storer made an early departure to head home but his lacklustre score did enough to claim him the chocolate. Next week will be a par round with the following week now being the date for the IGA Monthly Medal. Full results to be found here.
