A field of 30 players descended upon Penola Golf Club for the Wynns Monthly Medal which also featured the first round of qualifying for the men’s championship.
In C-Grade, Terry Devlin shot a sensational nett 65 to take out the round of the day, 5 shots clear of the President Bill Cheers. In 3rd place was Peter Ey with a nett 71 while John Gregory came 4th with a nett 73. In A-Grade, Don Ferguson showed he could still play with a nett 67. John Boneham claimed second place on countback from Jock Agnew on nett 70 while Greg Hutchesson came 4th with a nett 72. Over in B-Grade Sam Hill took the honours, finishing with a nett 71, a comfortable four shots clear of Peter Lunnay who beat Curt Evans on countback with nett 75. Fourth place went to Peter Walker with a nett 76. Nearest the pin winners were Ey on the 7th, Hill on the 9th and Boneham on the 14th. Longest drives went to Hutchesson in A-Grade, Evans in B-Grade while Peter Ey continued claiming prizes as he took out the C-Grade. The NAGA went to Paul Harmer. Next week sees the continuation of club championship qualifying with another stroke round. Tee-off from 11:30am, all welcome.
